Ichiros Malt Final Vintage of Hanyu Cask 6093
Hanyu distillery was owned by Toa-Shuzo in Saitama prefecture, north of Tokyo. It stopped distilling in 2000, and their stock was handed over to Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founder. The last remaining stocks of Hanyu whisky can sometimes be found in the market today, sold under the Ichiro s Malt label.
Here we have one of the Rare Final Vintage of Hanyu, cask number 6093. About 10 years old and bottled at cask strength without colouring or chill-filtration. A little slice and very rare example of distilling history. A rare collectors item!
Tasting notes from other reviews:
NOSE: Sandalwood, creme caramel, oak, nectarines, glazed orange slices, candied nuts
PALATE: Sweet and very smooth. More of the candied nuts and sandalwood, all spice, oak, toffee and a hint of pipe tobacco
FINISH: Long finish. With water it is smooth, sweet but not cloying on sweet spices, Asian incense, candied nuts and sandlewood
